A Day in the Life at Kids First Nursery
A look at our daily routine, from morning drop-off to home time
We're open Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Here's roughly what a day looks like — though the exact shape depends on your child's program, since Infants, Toddlers, and Pre-Schoolers each follow a routine suited to their age.
Morning: arrival and settling in
The day starts gently — children arrive between 7:00 AM and mid-morning, with staff on hand to greet each child individually. In the Infants room, babies settle into their own feeding and rest rhythm; in Toddlers and Pre-Schoolers rooms, morning circle time and free play help set the tone for the day.
Mid-morning: guided play and activities
This is when most structured, play-based learning activities happen — stories, songs, sensory play, early literacy and numeracy woven into hands-on activities. Children move between our indoor play areas, the storytelling room, and the water play area throughout the week.
Midday: outdoor play, rest, and meals
Time outdoors is a regular part of the day, alongside rest periods appropriate to each age group — infants nap on their own schedule, while toddlers and pre-schoolers typically have a set rest time. Our facilities include a puppet theatre and cinema room for quieter group moments too.
Throughout the day, our on-site clinic and 24-hour CCTV monitoring run quietly in the background — safety built into the routine, not something separate from it.
Afternoon: more activity, then home time
Afternoons continue with a mix of guided and free play before children are collected, with some families using our flexible afterschool program for older siblings. By home time, most children have had a full day of structured play, rest, and social time — the mix EYFS and play-based learning are built on.
